Amata
When sitting infront of an instrument the amount of options can sometimes be daunting. A full-size keyboard has 88 keys. When we want to improvise its easy to get overwhelmed by the options.
To combat this, I created a simple application that will generate musical challenges for you exercise sessions!
The idea is simple: select some keys, scales and exercises and it will randomly select three of theme to challenge you. For example with the screenshot below a challenge could be: D, Major, Triads (going up and down the scale using triadic chords).
Amata really isn’t anything special, however it has already helped me greatly.
Some notable features:
- Written using Python with Gtk4 and Adwaita, so it will adjust to the style of your GNOME system (i.e. taking on the main colour)
- The three lists are read and stored as plain text
.txt-files, this means you can easily add or remove styles, genres, keys, etc. - Amata stores the last selected options as state
